Why Buy American?
"Buy American!" might sound like nothing more than a slogan advanced by American manufacturers to sell products made in the USA, but the truth is that there are many reasons to consider buying American-made clothing, American-made toys, and other US-manufactured goods. We've listed just a few of the benefits of buying American below:

Top Ten Reasons to Buy USA Made Products:

10) Foreign labor standards allow unsafe worker conditions in many countries. When you buy American you support not only American manufacturers but also American workers, safe working conditions, and child labor laws.

9) Jobs shipped abroad almost never return. When you buy goods made in the USA, you help keep the American economy growing.

8) US manufacturing processes are much cleaner for the environment than many other countries; many brands sold here are produced in countries using dangerous, heavily polluting processes. When you purchase American-made product, you know that you're helping to keep the world a little cleaner for your children.

7) Many countries have no minimum wage restrictions, or the minimum wage is outrageously low. When you choose products made in the USA, you contribute to the payment of an honest day's wages for an honest day's work.

6) The growing lack of USA ability to manufacture many products is strategically unsound. When you seek out American-made goods, you foster American independence.

5) The huge US trade deficit leads to massive, unsustainable borrowing from other countries. Debt isn't good for you and it isn't good for America.

4) Foreign product safety standards are low. For example, poisonous levels of lead are in tens of millions of toys shipped to the USA. When you buy toys and other goods made in the USA, you can be confident that American consumer protection laws and safety standards are in place to protect your family.

3) Lack of minimum wage, worker safety, or environmental pollution controls in many countries undermines the concept of "fair and free trade". No Western nation can ultimately compete on price with a country willing to massively exploit and pollute its own people. When you buy only American-made products, you insist on a higher standard.

2) Factories and money are shifting to countries not friendly to the USA or democracy. When you avoid imported goods in favor of American-made items, you help ensure that the United States doesn't find its access to vital goods impacted by political conflict.

1) As the US manufacturing ability fades, future generations of US citizens will be unable to find relevant jobs. Buy American and help keep your friends and neighbors-and even yourself-earning a living wage.

Seven reasons to buy products made in the USA.

1. Keeping jobs in the USA gives you, a neighbor or family member a job. Remember it could be you or a loved one laid off next time.

2. Helps to keep America strong by having less dependence on foreign manufactures in times of global distress.

3. Money spent on foreign goods often goes to countries that do not especially like us. These countries are building their military and destroying their environment to feed our need for cheap imported products. This may eventually come back to haunt us.

4. “It’s the economy stupid”. Do you really think that whenever you spend $100.00 on foreign goods the third world country manufacturing it is going out and spending it on American made TV’s or computers. I don’t think so. A matter of fact I know a lot of companies that sell goods online and they never receive orders from China, Korea, Indonesia, etc. even though their populations are several times bigger than that of the US.

5. In the USA foreign companies are taking away market share from American companies. In a lot of foreign countries it is virtually impossible to sell to the general population due to patriotism, standard of living, substandard infrastructure for delivery purposes and apathy.

6. If a trade imbalance exists, the country has a deficit. This means a weaker dollar and less money to pass back and forth to generate taxes with. This means that the people working will have to withstand higher tax rates to keep up all the services people are accustomed to.

7. American pride and to support your country. Supporting your country is what helps to define you as an American. Many hundreds of thousands of people have given their lives in defending this great country of ours which has lead to our high standard of living and our individual freedoms. By sending your money overseas you will see a weakening US economy which will eventually lead to a lower standard of living for most Americans. We are starting to see this now even as the government continues to print money and the debt is over 12 trillion dollars. The US deficit in 2009 was 1.4 trillion out of a 14 trillion economy. This means that we have a deficit of 10% of GDP.

Did you see Diane Sawyer's special report?

They removed ALL items from a typical, middle class family's home that were not made in the USA .

There was hardly anything left besides the kitchen sink. Literally!

During the special, they showed truck loads of items - USA made being brought in to replace everything and were talking about how to  find these items and the difference in price etc.

It was interesting that Diane said that if every American spent just $64 more
than normal on USA made items this year, it would create something like 200,000 new jobs!

SHE SAID, I WAS BUYING FOOD THE OTHER DAY AT WALMART, ON THE
LABEL OF SOME PRODUCTS IT SAID 'FROM CHINA ' FOR EXAMPLE THE "OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF THE MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN 'FROM CHINA ' I WAS SHOCKED SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE LIBERTY GOLD BRAND OR THE DOLE SINCE IT'S FROM CALIF.

Are we Americans as dumb as we appear -- or -- is it that we just do not think while the Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in American markets? 70% of Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended. Why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges?

DO IT YOURSELF, AMERICA !

Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China ' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong ), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.
Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some American farmer. Easter is just an example.
The point is do not wait for the government to act. Just go ahead and assume control on your own.

THINK ABOUT THIS:

If 200 million Americans refuse to buy just $20 each of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor... fast!!

Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on May 1st and continue it until June 1st. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of  the total, or 8%, of their American exports. Then they might have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it.

Remember, May 1st to June 1st 2011!

START NOW!

Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are Americans and NOBODY can take us for granted. If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives, WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET!

Pass it on, America ...... BUY AMERICAN!

One  Light Bulb at a Time?
A physics teacher in  high school, once told the students that while one  grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn't slow a  train very much, but a billion of them would. With  that thought in mind, read the  following.

This past weekend I was at  Kroger. I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce dryer  sheets. I was in the light bulb aisle, and right  next to the GE brand I normally buy was an  off-brand labeled, "Everyday Value.. " I picked up  both types of bulbs and compared the stats - they  were the same except for the price.. The GE bulbs  were more money than the Everyday Value brand but  the thing that surprised me the most was the fact  that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value  brand was made in - get ready for this - the USA  company in Cleveland, Ohio.

So on to  another aisle - Bounce Dryer Sheets ... . . Yep,  you guessed it, bounce cost more money and is made  in Canada . The Everyday Value brand was less  money and MADE IN THE USA ! I did laundry  yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like  the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at  almost half the price!

I was in Lowes the other  day for some reason and just for the heck of it I  was looking at the hose attachments. They were all  made in China . The next day I was in Ace Hardware  and just for the heck of it, I checked the hose  attachments there. They were made in USA . Start  looking.

In  our current economic situation, every little thing we  buy or do affects someone else -- even their  job.

My grandson likes Hershey's candy. I  noticed, though, that it is marked made in Mexico  now.

I do not buy it any  more.

My favorite toothpaste  Colgate is made in Mexico ... Now I have switched to  Crest. You have to read the labels on  everything.

My  challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop  for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in  the USA- the job you save may be your own or your  neighbors!

(We should have awakened a  decade a go.)

If you accept the challenge,  pass this on to others in your address book so we can all  start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying  from overseas companies!

Let's get with the program .. Help  our fellow Americans keep their jobs and create more jobs here  in the U.S.A. ..
